Description
Dvorak originally wrote this piece as one of an early set of love songs. He subsequently reworked them as a set of short string quartet pieces. Neither the songs nor the string quartet arrangements were published or performed in his lifetime, perhaps because there is a delicate, affectionate and personal intimacy about them. The original song for this piece was entitled ’Nature lies peaceful in slumber dreaming.’
